Oliver And The Seawigs – Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre. Reviewed by Mango Bubbles Boy (9)

Mr, Mrs and Oliver Crisp were coming home from their latest exploratory trip!! When Mr and Mrs Crisp saw a new complex of  islands in Deepwater Bay that wasn’t on their map!! So Mr and Mrs Crisp set out to the biggest island. Oliver unpacked his suitcase, but by the time he had finished, he realized that it had been quite a long time since he had heard his parent’s voices he leaned out of the window and he saw the dinghy that they had gone in, was washed upon the shore. . . It is the start of Oliver’s new adventure with a mermaid, an albatross and a walking island!!

This is a really great book, I really recommend it for 8 or 9 year old readers.

I bought it for my class but I hadn’t read it yet, I bought it for my class because it was shortlisted for the Blue Peter book awards 2014 along with Whale Boy by Nicola Davids and Roof Toppers by Kathrine Rundell.

A little note the pictures are ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, ESPECIALLY THE SEAHORSES  AND THE ORANGE FISH IN IRIS’S HAIR ON THE BACK AND THE FISH ON PAGE 59 AND THE BIG FISH ON PAGE 19!!!!!!!!!20140907-184637-67597478.jpg20140907-184636-67596541.jpgOliver 1Oliver And The Seawigs
