Looking at the Stars – Jo Cotterill. Reviewed by Beth (11)

Looking at the Stars is about how Amina and her sister Jenna cope with what is happening in their country.

There is a war between the Kwana (who are in charge) and a foreign army. Amina and Jenna end up on their own in a refugee camp and have to fight to survive. Amina takes a lead by telling stories and gains pride through the response of her audience.

This book tells us that even though you are going though a hard time don’t let that take away hope.

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to 10+ year olds with a big imagination who like to think about other people’s points of view.
