The Windvale Sprites – Mackenzie Crook. Reviewed by Mango Bubbles Boy (9)

After a storm Asa Brown found a creature by the garden pond. It seemed to be a large dragonfly. He put it in a box, took some pictures, and put it in his room.

Soon after, he took the camera film to be developed. The man in the shop said that the little marking on the creature’s chest was the same design that was on the sign of the local pub. So Asa went to the pub.

He arrived just as George, an old man who regularly went to the pub, got thrown out because he was soooooooo drunk. George said that the pub was founded by the mad man who shot down ‘the lil’ birdie in the libree’.

Curious about this mad man, Asa went to the library to see the stuffed bird. It had a plaque under it, that said- ‘Benjamin Tooth, Alchemist, Inventor, Astronomer, Astrologer, Scientist, 7 Church St. Mereton, 12th April 1780’.

Asa had a feeling that Benjamin Tooth had also seen the dragonfly thing. He made it his mission to find out about the dragonflies/fairies.

This is the start of a sad, funny and exiting adventure, full of laughs, gasps, and grimaces!! READ IT!!!!!
I loved this book because it wasn’t quite Fantasy, it had fairy things, but normal people (if you don’t count Tooth)!!
