The Child’s Elephant – Rachel Campbell-Johnston. Reviewed by Blue Wolf (10)

Bat lives a normal life with his cows and his grandmother in the small African village of Jambula, but when an elephant calf is orphaned, he has to take a great responsibility. After caring for the little elephant (who he calls ‘Meya’) for about five years, he and his friend Muka are snatched by a camp of rebel soldiers. After years of harsh training, Bat starts to give up hope. Will the bond between him and Meya be enough to save him and Muka?
