A Seven Letter Word – Kim Slater. Reviewed by Mango Bubbles Boy (11)

Finlay McIntosh’s mum left. One minute she was there, the next she was not. All she left him was a Scrabble tile bag and an empty journal. Oh, and he’s got a stutter

Finlay meets a new friend (maybe) playing online Scrabble. He decides to meet up with this ‘Alex’. Maybe Finlay and Alex can be proper friends.

After school one day, Finlay’s dad is late picking him up, so he decides to go to the library. In the library a Scrabble club is being held. Over the next few weeks, Finlay improves at the game, and is entered into the championship!

When Finlay finally meets up with Alex, Alex pulls Finlay to a park, and demands a memory card. Alex’s dad threatens Finlay, that is when things get nasty…

All I have to say, is that this is one of the BEST books I have ever read, EVER.
