I would recommend Looking Up by Abena Eyeson to children 9+.

The main character Esi is moving from Ghana to live in London.

The story focuses on how Esi adjusts to her new life in London with her mum who she hasn’t lived with for a long time.

Esi has to deal with homesickness, bullying, an absent father and having to start a new school. 

I found the book to be funny, full of family drama and interesting.
