The Liar And Spy is a book about friendship and hard times, and about fitting in. It is written by Rebecca Stead and published by Andersen Press.

It is about a boy called Georges (The s is silent) and his life. His mum works in a hospital and his dad got fired. his dad starts his own business were he helps people make their houses look older. They have to sell their house and move to an apartment, because money is tight. Georges never sees his mum, as she has to work double shifts to make enough money for them. In their new apartment, Georges meets a boy called Safer. Safer runs a club called “Spy Club” and spies on the notorious “Mr X” who only ever wears black. He leaves at strange times in the middle of the night, always with suitcases. Safer thinks they have bodies in them!
