Hertford Children’s Book Festival 2015

We’re really looking forward to Hertford Children’s Book Festival this year. Especially our event with David Baddiel on the 3rd of October!! See info here. This is my review of his book-  The Parent Agency. Here is Stanypig’s review of it- The Parent Agency. We are also taking part in the Gala Evening on the 1st of October!! See info here. And he has written another book, that comes out on October 8th. It is called The Person Controller. This is the blurb from David Baddiel’s The Person Controller-

“From the author of THE PARENT AGENCY comes a thrilling, funny and touching new adventure.

Fred and Ellie are twins. But not identical (because that’s impossible for a boy and a girl). They do like all the same things, though. Especially video games. Which they are very good at. They aren’t that good, however, at much else – like, for example, football, or dealing with the school bullies.

Then, they meet the Mystery Man, who sends them a video game controller, which doesn’t look like any other controller they’ve ever seen. And it doesn’t control any of their usual games. When the twins find out what it does control, though, it seems like the answer to all their problems. And the key to all their wildest dreams. At least it seems like that…”

Hertford Children’s Book Festival 2014

It is the last day, 8th of October, of the Hertford Children’s Book Festival, it started on Thursday 2nd October. We started by going to see Jo Cotterill in Leaf Book shop and café (on Saturday 4th), that was great, thank you Leaf, thank you Jo Cotterill, I bought ‘Looking at the Stars’ which I hope to review soon and she signed it for me!! It is about a girl who was evacuated from her home and went with her Sister to a refugee camp and told everyone stories about the stars.

Then we went to see Charlie Higson, with my cousin, Charlie talked about Zombies and his books, he wrote the Young James Bond series and the Enemy series, which is about this disease that every over 14 person gets, and turn into Zombies… And there is this group of kids who are trying to get to Buckingham Palace because that is the only safe place!!! Got his book ‘The Enemy’ signed as well! We already have a review of this book, The Enemy – Charlie Higson. Reviewed by Awesome Guy.

  1. Dear Ruben – we are thrilled you so enjoyed our festival this year – and so happy you went to so many events. We look forward to being in touch before next year’s Festival too. You are the perfect bookworm – all the authors and performers enjoyed meeting you. You are the sort of reader it is a pleasure for an author to write for! All the best for now and keep in touch… and remember to keep checking our website for updates! Freya and Maureen x
